Front Office/Support Staff:

Get to know our dedicated team that helps support our therapists day to day!

Terry Lawton- Owner/Director:

Terry Lawton began her journey with the practice in 1997 as the Office Manager. In 2002, she took the next step in her commitment to mental health by purchasing the practice and stepping into the role of Owner and Director. With over two decades of leadership, Terry has been dedicated to creating a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for both clients and therapists.

Driven by a deep passion for helping others, Terry’s mission has always been to ensure that everyone who walks through the doors feels seen, heard, and valued. Her leadership reflects her belief in the importance of compassionate care and strong community support.

Outside of work, Terry treasures time spent with her husband, daughter, son-in-law, three grandchildren, and a large extended family who brings joy and laughter into her life.

Jessica Wilkinson- Assistant Director:

Jessica joined the team in 2018 as the Administrative Assistant and has since grown into the role of Assistant Director. That same year, she earned her Associate’s Degree in general studies after being out of school for quite a few years. She was most proud to show her young son that no matter where we go and what we do in life, we can achieve the goals we have set for ourselves. When she originally went to college right out of high school, she fell in love with the Psychology and Mental Health field, so she feels incredibly blessed to have landed in a role where she can use the knowledge she has learned over the years to assist our therapists with their day to day jobs, as well as be here for all of the clients who come through the door. Working in this role enables her to support both our staff and clients while contributing to a mission she cares deeply about. She’s passionate about creating a welcoming, organized, and compassionate environment where our team can thrive and our clients feel supported. Jessica also handles all of the billing and insurance coordination for the therapists at Counsel House, as well as being the first face you see when you come into the office.

Outside of work, Jessica enjoys reading, watching her favorite TV shows and movies, and random back country road drives, belting along to her favorite showtunes. She also enjoys taking in a show or two at the local theaters, and has even graced the boards at Hayswood Theater herself a few times! Music is a big part of her life, and so is spending quality time with her boyfriend, their son, and her extended family. She believes in creating a warm and welcoming space for everyone who walks through our doors and providing any help and resources that she can. If Jessica doesn’t know the answer, she’s more than willing to research and find a solution that works for everyone.

Jessica is in the office Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am - 5:30 pm for new and existing clients to come in and sign-up for services, or schedule appointments.

Dr. Jim Brock- Psy.D., LSW, M.Div, HSPP:

James V. Brock, Psy.D., (Dr. Jim) is Counsel House’s senior therapist, having begun his work there in 1995. He has earned degrees from Davidson College (1978), the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1989), and his psychology doctorate at Spalding University (2009).

Dr. Jim entered the mental health field working at Jefferson Hospital (now Wellstone) in

1987. He is a generalist in his behavioral health practice, treating all ages and all issues. However, specialties include: faith-based counseling, substance and sexual

addictions, marital counseling, chronic and severe mental illnesses (such as bipolarity

and psychoses), and family systems therapy. Dr. Jim utilizes a broad range of psychotherapeutic techniques, but relies most heavily on the schools of Reality Therapy, Holistic Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Insight Oriented Therapy to help clients embrace ownership of their ability to heal.

Outside of work, Dr. Jim enjoys spending time with his wife, their 3 children, and 7

grandchildren. All the Brocks are active in their respective churches, and all enjoy

traveling. Dr. Jim stays active with yard work and gym workouts 3 times a week, so

there is no time for boredom. He believes a balance of work, religious pursuit, exercise,

diet management, and leisure goes far toward creating and maintaining optimal physical

and emotional health.

Dr. Jim is available for appointments at Counsel House on Saturdays from 9:30 am- 4:30 pm.

Sandra E. Schiele- LCSW, Advanced EMDR, R/G- TEP, CGTEP, GPEP, LPCC, ICADC, SAP:

Sandra, E. Schiele, LCSW, EMDR, LPCC, ICADC, SAP, was born in Chicago, Illinois, and then spending my first 5 years in Miami and my next 4 years in Owensboro. I then moved to Boonville, Indiana from the ages of 9-17 at which point I graduated high school in 1986 and returned to Owensboro to attend undergraduate at Kentucky Wesleyan College, where I finished a semester early with a double major in psychology and Spanish and a minor in Sociology in 1989. From there I went to Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green in 1991 for graduate school and obtained a Master's of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Mental Health Counseling in 1993 and a License in Professional Clinical Counseling (LPCC) and later received my Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug abuse Counselor (ICADC). In 1995 I commenced study at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville working on my second masters degree in social work which I obtained in 1999 and later secured my Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW).

Over the years I have worked multiple jobs simultaneously as I have believed in a very strong work ethic. I began my career at Mary Kendall Home, an all girls group home for teens who were removed due to abuse, neglect or being beyond control of their parents. I was there for almost 14 months. I worked 3 1/2 days on and 3 1/2 days off. We stayed the night at the group home. I left to work for the State as a Child and Adult Protective Worker. I began as a front line worker then became a supervisor over the Intake and Investigation team then a Director over all the supervisors in my region. I remained for 15 years. While a front line worker, I also worked at a convenience store as a manager on weekends. While a supervisor, I also taught DUI classes on Saturdays. While a Director, I also worked in the evenings as an in home therapist working with special needs children and their families.

I realized that I needed direct service work to obtain my LCSW that I wasn’t getting so I left the state and went to work for the Volunteers of America in Louisville as a counselor for women residing in a treatment facility where they could bring their children. My job also included co facilitating their group therapy, providing their one on one therapy and providing all of their case management. I left after a couple of years for a much higher paying job at JADAC working in their Evening Intensive Outpatient Program (substance abuse) but Volunteers of America kept me part time and wanted me back full time so they created an equally paying supervisor job so I returned and remained part time at JADAC until my position was eliminated due to their lay offs. I promoted to a program manager and remained their for 8 years until a position at a doctors office was created for a social worker.

This was a unique position for someone to come in and create all the grassroots programming. I couldn’t resist this opportunity to work at three locations with the elderly population. I had over 4,000 patients. I stayed here for 3 years until another set of layoffs occurred. It became evident to me that over the past decade, the part time work I had been doing for Counsel House had been the happiest and best fit of all. My only fear was that it was contract work. When folks don’t show up, you don’t get paid! That effects my pay and my ability to pay my bills so I was always afraid of how that would translate to my finances so I never made the decision to come here full time until it felt like I was being nudged to do so. So, I made that leap and ever since 2007, I have worked here and for the past several years, I have been here full time. And I can honestly say, I love working at Counsel House. In 2019 I made the decision to move from Kentucky to Corydon. I adore this city as much as I enjoy my job.

P.S. I love my cats, sugar gliders, parasailing, jet skiing, cruising, swimming, banana boating, kayaking, zip lining, horse back riding, rafting, crafting, canoeing, being on stage, watching hockey, watching tv/movies, watching tennis, watching gymnastics, watching figure skating, and as a child and young adult I was a very active and very good athlete - archery, softball, tennis, volleyball, track, swimming.

Andrea L. Glass- LMHC, EMDR, R/G- Tep, Couples Therapy:

Andrea L. Glass, LMHC, EMDR, R/G-TEP, is a trauma-focused Mental Health Counselor who works with individuals and couples. Compassionate and down-to-earth, Andrea creates a safe, supportive space for clients to explore difficult experiences, strengthen relationships, and grow beyond trauma.

Andrea specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, using both the Standard Protocol and newer approaches like the Recent and Group Traumatic Episode Protocols (R-TEP/G-TEP). She also works closely with couples and is currently pursuing certification in the Gottman Method. In the coming years, she plans to deepen her work with certifications in Narrative Therapy and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

Her path to becoming a counselor began with her own healing journey. At 37, Andrea was diagnosed with PTSD. It was through deep therapeutic work—including EMDR—that she experienced the power of post-traumatic growth. That transformation inspired her to become a therapist and help others feel less alone and more empowered in their healing.

Andrea holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Capella University (Summa Cum Laude) and a Master’s Degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from Walden University (4.0 GPA). She completed her practicum at Counsel House and her internship at American Behavioral Counseling in Indianapolis before joining Counsel House as a therapist in 2021. She sees individuals starting at age 12, as well as couples of all backgrounds and stages of life.

Clients appreciate Andrea’s calming presence, empathetic listening, and ability to gently guide them through the healing process at their own pace. She believes trauma doesn’t just affect individuals—it can shape relationships, communication patterns, and emotional connections. Her work is rooted in the belief that with the right support, people can grow through pain and rediscover connection, meaning, and joy.

Outside of the therapy room, Andrea lives with her husband of 28 years on their property, where they’re currently building four cozy cabins as a family project. They have three grown children and three lackadaisical dogs. Andrea loves road trips, the outdoors, and camping, and has a special place in her heart for horses, having been an avid rider in her earlier years.

Andrea offers appointments Tuesday through Friday from 11 AM to 2 PM and 4 PM to 7 PM, both in-person and via telehealth.
